When I started writing and thinking about what to post for our big year anniversary this writing started off very gloomy, but then…
I recalled our vows.
I recalled the day
I recalled our Purpose .
As I was looking through my pictures trying to figure out what to post for our big one year anniversary I new I couldn’t come up with a bright and happy one it wouldn’t of been the right fit.

When I look at this picture I see our year unfold.
It was exactly what you see when you look a little deeper with me.
It was grey.
It was Peter loving me unconditionally.
It was me wondering why and yet still leaning in wanting to trust him but didn’t know how.
It was me not always wanting to make eye contact.
It was Peter always seeing me as beautiful even if I didn’t act that way.
Like I have mentioned in a few other writings before our first year was not a honeymoon it was a spiritual battle of thorns. Through and through we know that God is bigger and he has only made us stronger in the midst of it all. We learned so much together and I am so thankful to have a husband who is completely in love with Lord.
Peters Vows:
Mihaela, meeting you 3 years ago I had no idea I would be standing here today getting married to you. You have been involved in my life these last three years always around to talk to and to listen too. Our friendship slowly grew and grew encouraging each other in our walk with Christ.
I stand before you today Mihaela to make my vows to you. I vow to hold your hand in sickness and in health. I vow to always encourage and support your walk with Christ. I vow to be your best friend and walk through life together. I vow to give myself up for you, to die to myself daily.
My Vows:
Peter even before we started dating you were always encouraging me in my walk with Christ through prayer. Because of you I have learned to trust again. I love you. Years I have prayed for you, and God has blessed me more than I ever imagined. Now and forever I promise to hold your hand in the battle field of life. I promise to be an encourager, your helper, your lover, your prayer warrior, and your companion. I promise to laugh, cry, and dream with you. I promise to die to myself every day for you. To love you through all our seasons.
(Here I took off my purity ring and continued the vows. Ring off.)
The ring I am wearing is in the shape of a heart. This is symbolizing through being restored in Christ is my purity to you. My new ring will symbolize a promise to be forever yours with commitment I am making before God and man today.
Beautiful.

Marriage is hard, that’s for sure. You’re very blessed to have a husband who loved Jesus and he is equally blessed to have you. Congrats on making it one year- you’re officially no longer newlyweds!

This is beautiful and I love your transparency, one of which I think many women have battled with internally. It sounds like he has given you such a beautiful example of Christ’s love. You are blessed!

Happy Anniversary! I love that you have shared your vows with us, for us we used the “traditional wedding vows” but they weren’t nearly as personal or as intimate as yours were. I bet there wasn’t a dry eye in the room when you two spoke to each other!

Awww thank you. I Definitely cried during mine. We wrote them separately and did them the night before. Yikes! It was the final touch to our planning.

Love this! What a great way to remind yourselves of those beautiful words of love. I am going to have to remember this for when my oldest gets married. Can you imagine how cool it would be for her grandchildren to read the words that grandpa wrote all those years ago?!?

Sweet vows. We wrote ours too. 🙂 I love it when vows have meaning. We have been to some weddings when they really didn’t make any promises at all.

Wow that’s a bit awkward. Even the traditional ones have meaning.

What a treasure! Love that you not only wrote your own vows but still have them. Those are precious items that need to be framed and said often! May God continue to bless your marriage as you put Him first and each other second.

What a beautiful memory! The first year can be so difficult, and sometimes it gets harder, not easier. For me, my vows were not only made to my husband but also to God, that I would honour Him by continuing to honour our marriage. Blessings on your anniversery, and here’s to many more to come!

I LOVE hearing and reading wedding vows. During the tough times in my marriage, it has been very good for me to be reminded about what I vowed to my husband before God. (FYI, tomorrow’s my 7th anniversary.)

Lovely! Marriage is a hard, hard thing, but I believe God created it to purify and refine us. I wouldn’t be half the person I am today without having to learn the selflessness that marriage requires.

I love the part where you took off your purity ring during the vows – those things came along after “my time,” but I think the idea is really cool – I’ve never heard of someone incorporating it into their wedding, though, which is an idea that I LOVE!

What a wonderful look back at our first year of marriage. I highly recommend chronicling things in the early years as it is easy to forget some things later in life when things get rough.

Wow. I don’t think I know anyone personally who has written their own vows. That is amazing. I have been married for 17 years and it can be the biggest battle of your life. Tough, rough, tiring.. add in some children, financial issues, and health stuff and married is quite the journey!

the first few paragraphs were super romantic! you can write a novel dearie with those same words! But kudos to having a Christ centered marriage. it is a lot of work and if we rely on our own powers, we won’t get through our own. I have been married for 12 years now and the downs are really tough. prayers work a lot

I love reading wedding vows because those are what makes a couple unique. They have built a world of their own that only they understand and I think that’s beautiful. Thanks for sharing your vows!

Marriage is hard work. As both develop through the years it is vital to keep the same ground. A lovely post to come back to the vows made as a reminder of the foundation the love / marriage was built on!

Wow! This is beautiful. Thanks for sharing intimate details of your marriage with us for the greater good. When you first marry, it’s hard to see any trials that may arise but they will, sure enough. I just started reading The Power of a Praying Wife and it has opened my eyes to a new perspective on biblical marriage.
